August Chunky Charm Swap

Just finished up another swap on the Cricut Message Board.  Hosted by "RockinRobin," it was another round of Chunky Charms, theme was "Autumn".  I didn't have much luck in finding great charms locally or on the net.  I used my Imagine with Create A Critter and Berries & Cream cartridges.  Love this little guy!!

The chain was a bright gold I picked up at Walmart and I use some Tim Holtz black alcohol ink to antique it.  No one else knows this, but one of my favorite memories of fall is being back in school, smelling the saw dust and oil polished floors, chalk, and my introduction to finances.  In the 5th grade we were allowed to sell apples to the other students.  Alternating weeks, we would take money from the other students and then make the change.  I hadn't thought about that in a long time, but decided to put the coins on the charm as a nod to that nostalgic memory.

September is going to be a busy crafting month. I have a couple of big swaps and getting ready for Cricut Mania 1 in Atlanta at the end of the month.  Be back later.

August Magnolia Swap

Wow, another month almost come and gone.  I can't believe school's starting and summer's almost gone.  We had a great swap over on the Cricut mb this month; we were to make an initial for our swap sister.  My partner Traci preferred the letter "C" for her living room and the colors are browns, greens, and rustic red.  I couldn't find the thicker type mdf letter but found one about 8" high and thought it might do.

I used some Anna Griffith paper I've been hoarding for awhile but it had the colors I needed.  Used my Primacolor pens instead of Sprectrum Noir just because I had them out already. LOL  The doily and flourishes are Cheery Lynn Designs, cut in Recollections bronze paper.  I edged the letter with Adirondack gold and copper inks but the picture doesn't show the detail.  After looking at it a couple of days, looked a little plain so I added several crystal flourishes and blinged it up!!  Much prettier IRL.

Hope Traci likes it, it was fun to do!!

DCWV Thank You Card

Just a quick post.  I created a really simple Thank You card for a friend who's hosting a Die Cut swap on the Cricut mb.  It's a neat swap where we cut out metal dies and share.  I used a few Cheery Lynn Designs plates and thought I'd use the reverse image from their Flourish die; two for one cut!  Used a ready made DCWV card for the base, added the base with the die cut scrap, Recollections flowers, CTMH "thank you" stamp, and a few pieces of bling. Easy peasy! My kind of cards, LOL.

Cricut Circle Stick Pin Swap

We just finished up a Stick Pin Swap (hosted by JJewel).  The ladies created fabulous beaded creations and holders.  I was not nearly as creative, but liked my pins anyway.

Family Reunion 2012

I've ignored my poor little blog and hobby for awhile and boy have I got to get busy this month, lots of projects to work on: charms, Magnolia, diecuts, calling cards....got to get creative!!

At least I managed to get a couple of things done.  We had a wonderful family reunion in Mexico Beach, FL.  It's mostly my mom and dad's decendants and a few cousins whom we think of as brothers and sisters. We've had a recent baby boom and it was a real treat to see the little ones playing in the water and games together.  Now the Rook tournament didn't turn out well....my cousin and I lost out to my brother and sister, so I'll probably never live that one down!!

We just started having a raffle to help with the cost of supplies.  I think I won one of the best. My sister, made a basket of goodies from Georgia and a pillow with "granny squares" my mom had done -- what a treasure.  She had to go and spoil it though by putting a darn UGA wine stopper in, like I'm going to put that dog's ugly mug in my "Horse Creek Wine" that was in the basket. (We grew up in a little hollow in Kentucky called Horse Creek and she found a Horse Creek Winery in Ga.  What a coincidence!!

I had a really bad sinus infection for a few weeks prior so sluffed off on some of the items I wanted to make but did get these done:

Wine list made using a metal plaque from Hobby Lobby, dark brown vinyl, and Cricut Word Collage cartridge.

Bird Flourish Tile

I used a 12" x 12" tile, black vinyl and a program that cuts TTFs and SVGs, SCAL.  I use it VERY rarely as it is no longer being updated to work with my Cricut.  My cricut is out of warranty going in a different direction isn't worth the hassle nor expense.

Thanks for dropping by!

Cricut June Magnolia Swap

We did something different for this month, made a shadow box frame from a single sheet of paper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DikO_rMeIHc).  I wound up redoing it about 3 times before I felt like I had a good project.  Used Graphics45 paper, Tim Holtz embellishments and since my partner used feathers on mine, decided I simply had to return the favor!!

{Basic matierals used; wound up not using the cream pleated ribbon, it  was too large for the trim around the edges.

Loved playing with this project; kept adding to it.  Found a great chunky charm at Walmart and added a couple of things to it.  Also, working on a stick pin swap, so how could I not use one here!!!

And, of course, have to add another pic after adding the very delicate feathers!!!  Who would have thunk it??? LOL I think they look a wee  bit jaunty.

I put a piece of chipboard and an easel from the Frames cart on the back to provide stability.  Lots of firsts for me.  Hope Kathy enjoys the swap; sure was a lot of fun to create for her!!

Charm Swap Tags

Just completed the tags for the Cricut mb Chunky Charm Summer Swap.  I used my Cricut Imagine, Enjoy the Season cartridge, The Good Old Days cartridge, and Plantin cartridge for the tag shape.  Used a page of 12" x 12" DCWV Kitchen stack and printed the images on the blank back, then inked with Tim Holtz distress stamps.
